It lies in the central part of Hunan. With an area of 20,876 square kilometers and a population of 7,400,000, it consists of three districts (Shuangqing, Daxiang, Beita), Wugang city and eight counties (Xinshao, Shaodong, Shaoyang, Longhui, Dongkou, Xinning, Suining, Chengbu Miao Nationality Autonomous).
